ZED — Taplast Design Competition
Inflatable structure, minimal volume.
ZED is a packaging concept for liquid-soap refills—those ultra-thin pouches that store well but often need a separate dispenser to be practical at home. The idea is to keep the same plastic-sheet logic, while adding a built-in inflatable lattice: a network of small air chambers integrated into the pouch. On shelf and in storage, the chambers stay deflated, keeping the package flat and space-efficient. At home, the user inflates the chambers (like a balloon) to create rigid ribs that give the pouch structure, allowing it to function as a stable soap dispenser. Once the soap is finished, the air is released and the package returns to a flat state—minimizing volume both during distribution and at end of life.
